Extra Curricular Activities

Scouts

Our Scout troop began in the academic year 2007-2008 with a compliment of 20 boys. This year our troop has 35 boys ranging from age 7 -11 years. Our scouts are involved in camps, scout rallies and various sporting events. Our parents are quite active in this troop. This activity continues to offer our young boys a chance to develop discipline and a healthy camaraderie among themselves. See Boy Scouts' photos

Karate

Our karate group continues to make progress as one student will be going for his black belt in this academic year. See Karate Club photos

Dance

We entered three pieces in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) competition. At the parish level we received one gold and two silver medals with one piece moving on to the national finals.

Speech

We entered three pieces in the JCDC competition. At the parish level we received one gold and one silver medal.

Debating

We entered the Pavcon/Mt. St. Joseph debating competition and were awarded the second place. This was our very first debating competition.

Music

We entered two instrumental pieces in the JCDC competitions and was rewarded with one gold and one bronze. The gold piece went on to the national finals and gained the national award for the most creative instrumental piece in their category. For this year we hope to enter the vocal competitions.

Sports

We did not enter any competitions for netball or football. However we continued to enter the National Prep School Track and Field Championship. Our endeavours this year was the best in many years. We had 3 individual athletes reaching the finals and we also won a bronze medal in the boys' medley relay. At the end of the championships we were placed 17th out of 52 schools. Quiz Club

In the academic year 2010 - 2011 Knox Junior School finished the TVJ Junior School's challenge quiz at the quater final level.We are now seeded as 5th in the island in this competition. We hope to better this ranking this year.

Environmental club

In the clean school competition we were place 2nd in the parish of Manchester. This was the firt time we had reached this far in the competition. We look forward to doing much better next year.
