Knox Junior School are TVJ's Junior School Challenge Quiz Champions

Knox Junior School vs Mona Prep Knox Junior School emerged champions of the 2012 TVJ's Junior School's Challenge Quiz after turning back the challenge of Mona Preparatory school in the finals.

Principal of Knox Junior School and head coach of the quiz team, Mrs. Malcolm, was very confident that they would win the competition this year.

"We believe that we had an advantage in that we had three members from last year. That helps us a lot along with the intense work because we wanted it very badly." she is reported as saying by The Jamaica Gleaner.

Captain very elated

Team captain Ayodeji Adedipe, who stood out throughout the competition, was happy that his team took home the trophy.

"I am very elated that in my last year at the school we won the competition," he said.

The other team members are Tajaun Gibbison, Larone Cassanova, Kejhawn Brown and Ruth-Ann Blair. Teachers Rohann Hamm and Dahlia Tomlin are members of the coaching staff.

Tragedy nearly struck for Knox in the semi-finals against Unity Primary who they defeated by one point. Commenting on that match, Ayodeji said, "It was a bittersweet feeling because we could have done much better."

Knox had an improved showing in the finals as they outplayed Mona, beating them 38 to 30 points.

Malcolm said the school's victory was for rural Jamaica.

"It's for Spaldings but we did this for rural schools because the rural schools have had a bad shake. It is thought that we (rural school) could never be as good as Vaz (Prep) and Mona can do. So we had rural Jamaica rooting for us."
